About the Deparment
The Bengali Department was started in 1972, the year of the foundation of the college. The department is acclaimed as a distingusehed department considering the result and the strength of students. From the very beginning only general course was taught and from July 1994, Honours course also started. Every year more than one thousand students remain in the department.
The past heads with their tireless efforts helped the department to reach at a distingused position. The past heads were Late Prof. Shyamal Dasmal, Late Prof. Shyamal Maiti.
Upto the year 2020, we used to go to the filed work with the students of the part III Honours students to survey on different Folk Arts like Oyster Art, Hawser Art, Kantha Art, Pot Art, Art of Doll made of mud etc. It increased the relation among the students and the teachers no doubt.
The result of the department are notable every year in every Semester. Cent percent of the examinees do better result in their respective semester. The department is flourshing day by day.
